The Home Stretch

8 more weeks have passed since I updated about this pregnancy. They went by so quick, probably because I haven't really been too miserable or anything! The temperature has been brutal, but luckily we got to spend every Wednesday at the pool with out playgroup. That made it much more bearable. Jocelyn loves the water, so she would have been happy going every day, but we had to do all the things that keep life going too!

I started my every week appointments 2 weeks ago (36 weeks). I was hoping that I would be progressing nicely so maybe he would come sooner than his due date of Sept. 7th. I had an ultrasound at 35 weeks and he was measuring 3 weeks ahead! Ahh, I am expecting a HUGE baby :) That day I was 2 cm and 80% effaced!

Last week I had another U/S and he was only 1.5 weeks ahead and estimated to weigh 6 lb 14 oz, which is what Jocelyn weighed when she was born! Of course, the U/S can be up to a pound off either direction. At that appointment I was 3cm. and 85% effaced. The doctor said I would not make it to my due date, but also made it sound like I could have him at any moment. So of course, Brian and I have been on constant alert.

This is Jocelyn playing little piggies with my hugely swollen feet :)

We got the house 100% ready to have Fisher last weekend! Everything was vacuumed, mopped, put away, laundry done, bags packed. You name it, we did it! I had Mexican food on Saturday night and of course, nothing! So, back to the doctor I went yesterday!

In the meantime, we all got colds this weekend. Mine and Jocelyn's started on Saturday night and Brian's followed on Sunday. This made me rethink being ready for Fisher to get here! I am not prepared to bring a baby home to house filled with germs. Not to mention, Brian doesn't do well on no sleep. If yoyu add in being sick, taking care of Jocelyn and a new baby, he is going to be NO FUN to be around! So, I just started hoping he would stay in a little bit longer.

Back to yesterday's appointment. We had talked about stripping my membranes, but decided against it since we were all sick. I was "4 cm and pretty much all the way effaced" according to my Doctor! No one can believe I have not gone into labor yet! I might just get so dilated that Fisher just falls out at some point. Haha! I haven't had any contractions and besides sleeping like crap, I feel pretty good.

Unfortunately, by the time he does decide to come, we will have to do all the cleaning and laundry again. Can you believe that is what is stressing me out the most?! How dumb, but it's true.

I have an induction scheduled for next Wednesday at 12:01 am if he doesn't come before then. I will be amazed if I make it that far. It would be fun to go into labor on my own, but I am so worried he is going to end up being huge and I'll end up with a c-section after laboring for hours. So, if my doctor wants to induce me at 39 weeks, he can go right ahead!

Here is a picture of my cutie pie, if you've managed to pay attention to this long post!

Simple Nautical Nursery

It has been almost 2 months since my last post, and I swear time is just flying by!  We haven't really done much of anything too fun, just getting things ready for the little mister that will be here any day now!

Before I fill you in on how the pregnancy is going, I will show you how cute his nursery turned out! I had a REALLY hard time deciding how I wanted to decorate. I had millions of ideas for another girl room, but as soon as they said it was a boy I freaked out! I lost so much sleep over what we were going to name him and how to decorate the darn nursery. I was really against baby blue, and the brown/green combo, and didn't want anything too babyish. Brian said he didn't really like navy blue, but I over-ruled him when I decided to go with a "Nautical" theme :) The room was already tan, and we didn't want to re-paint. So we added white and navy accents.

We decided that instead of getting him new furniture, Brian and I would give him the stuff we were using and get new furniture for our bedroom...Everyone wins! I am so in love with our new stuff  (which Brian wanted in white instead of dark brown!) and our old stuff get's a new life with baby things on it!

Anyways, everything in the room was either moved from a different place in the house and refinished, or it was built and/or painted by Brian and I! I am so proud of all the crafty things that I did for that room and for the baby.

The curtains really pulled the room together...It actually looks finished now! I wanted to get a curtain rod that fit a bay window, but Brian had the idea of using some metal piece sold at Lowe's for a mere $2.50! He painted it and I just need to find some kind of decorative ball for the ends! Brian built the little sail boat and I sewed the sail. I made the 3 fish hanger on the door (inspired by a seller on etsy.)

I really wanted to put his name over the crib, and thanks to pinterest, I thought of hanging a fishing pole over it. of course Brian loved this idea! I bought the letters and Hobby Lobby and just painted them to go with the theme.

The paddles were built and painted by Brian. I got this idea from Pottery Barn. Brian didn't even have to buy wood for them, he had it in his garage so the price for that project was pretty much zero! I got the unfinished frames at Hobby Lobby and just painted those with acrylic paint. Now we just need some pictures and we are all set!

I had the stars in storage from Christmas decorations, and knew they would look great in this room. The banner is from the "sprinkle" that my best friends threw for us! I didn't want to throw it away so we will just hang it across the dresser for now! The top of the dresser will be the changing table as soon as we get Jocelyn out of diapers and move the pad into Fishers room!

I am so happy that the crib we wanted matched the furniture perfectly! The quilt, blanket and bumper are from Pottery Barn, I made the taggy blanket and the minky crib sheet! Both were so simple.

The anchor was what caught my eye in the very beginning of this room process. I saw it on etsy and HAD to have it! It looks even better in person than I thought it would. I really think it just makes the room. Those frames were the hardest to paint. I had Brian spray paint them white and I taped them off and painted the blue on them. Of course, my paint didn't mesh with the shiny spray paint and I pulled half of it off with the tape :( Oh well, I figured it wouldn't be THAT noticeable and hung them up anyways. I'll fix them one day when I don't have anything better to do ;)

There you have it, now we just need to add a baby and we'll be golden.

30 weeks down, 10 to go!

(Please excuse the fact that I am in a bikini and my sunglasses are falling off my face. One day I'll actually like these 2  pictures... hope!)

Current Week: 30

Weeks to go: 10

Weight gain:
I go to the doctor in the morning, but let's just say I already gained as much as I did total with Jocelyn!

StretchiesNone.

Movement: He starts moving in the evening right around bedtime and doesn't stop! He will be till as as soon as Brian puts a hand on my belly though. If only it were that easy when he is actually born!

Cravings: ice

Sleep: I sleep pretty good. Only have to get up for the bathroom once or twice. Unfortunately, J is having a hard time staying in her bed so that extra person in our queen size bed is making it a little more uncomfortable. especially since she likes to cuddle up as close to me as possible!

Best moment this week: We have had an awesome week and it's only Wednesday! Splash Pad, Playworld and the beach at the Lake!

Gender: Boy!!!

Labor signs: Nothing that I really notice.

Belly button: all the way out! I love it :) Jocelyn think's it is so funny.

What I miss: sleeping on my back, being able to walk up stairs without getting so tired.

What I'm looking forward to:  Our new bedroom furniture being delivered on Saturday.

Weekly wisdom: Get busy making decisions on nursery items!

Milestones: 30 weeks! Isn't that enough?!

FLORIDA!

From the title, this post sounds like we took a luxurious vacation back to Florida this summer. Not so :) We went back over Father's Day weekend for my 10 year high school reunion. When I say it was "over the weekend", I mean we drove down Thursday and drove back up to Tennessee on Monday. Needless to say, it wasn't much of a vacation at all. We were actually lucky to get to go down Thursday, because our plan was to leave Friday...Thank you to B's boss for letting him have the day off at the last minute.
My sister Kelli and Jocie

We were able to take our time driving down and didn't leave until after a doctor appt at 11. We stopped many many times along the way which made our normally 9 hour drive an "exciting" 11.5 hour drive! We stopped for lunch at The Varsity in Atlanta. It was really crowded but pretty tasty food! Jocelyn ate her first hot dog with the bun! Then we stopped at every other exit so this poor pregnant lady could us the bathroom. We also got to stop for dinner at Chipotle in Jacksonville. It was such a treat since we don't have Chipotle in Chattanooga for some strange reason. We finally pulled into my dad's house at 11:30.

Friday morning we were able to get up and go spend the morning at the beach. I never cared about going to the beach when we lived 20 minutes away (most of my life) But, now that I can't just pick up and go whenever I want, that's ALL I can think about! It doesn't help that every single person I know up here takes a beach vacation to Florida every summer :) Maybe we will be able to plan a trip for a week next summer. After we came back form the beach, we drove by our old house and our neighbors were outside! So we got a chance to catch up with them for a while, which is nice since I haven't seen them since we moved.

Saturday morning, my sister Brandi and my nieces Makenna and Carsyn came over to spend some time with us! I have never seen anything as cute as those girls when they saw each other again! They laughed and giggled and hugged and spun around in circles for at least 20 minutes! I am kicking myself now for not having mu camera out to take pictures.

I love these pictures of the cousins! They are only 3.5 months apart.

We also spent Saturday at my Grandma's house visiting with my mom's side of the family and celebration Jocie's Birthday (again!) It was nice to have a home cooked meal, that I didn't cook :)
My sweet grandma. Jocie calls her GG.
My little sister Jennifer, Mom, Me and Grandma
Jocie blowing out her candles for the millionth time!

This girl could blow out candles every day of the year!

Saturday night was my reunion. It was basically like I figured it would be...I talked to the same people I was friends with in high school and who I "see" on facebook now. I was kind of disappointed that a few of the people i was looking forward to seeing didn't go though. Out of a class of over 800 people, we might have had 100 at the reunion. I think more went to the "ice breaker" downtown on Friday night, but I wasn't in the mood to go hang out at a bar with a bunch of drunk people ;)

Sunday, Father's Day, we spent the day hanging out in the pool and eating cake for Brandi's birthday. Later that afternoon, we drove up to St. Augustine and surprised Brian's dad! He didn't know we were coming into town at all, much less having Father's Day dinner with him and spending the night.
 My little mermaid girl.
Makenna just learned to swim like a fish!

So that was our summer "vacation" and I use that term loosely! I thought about going down again before the baby arrives, but I think my window of opportunity is going to pass before I am able to go again!

Guess Whoo's having a Party?!

Jocelyn and her best friend Lola have birthdays about a week apart, so her mommy and I decided to throw them a Birthday party together since they have the same friends!

We went with a pink and green owl theme and had so much fun planning it together!

Most of the decorations we made ourselves.

We ordered this cute banner from Burley Girl Designs on Etsy.

The cookies were made by Truly Scrumptious Cookies also on Etsy.

I got the stickers for the water bottles and Thank You stickers for the back of the cookie favors from Party Ink on Etsy.

Can you tell I love etsy?! I don't think I would have gotten so many good party ideas if it weren't for this website :)

The cake was so good! We had individual cupcakes made for the Birthday Girls!

This is Jocelyn showing Lola all the goodies

Then, giving her a napkin to clean up with!

Our only family picture from the day

Opening presents

Best Friends!!!

Her favorite present was the tool bench (she is a daddy's girl in case I forgot to mention it!)

We had such an awesome time at the girls' party. I can say that I was extremely worn out though. I will be very happy to have my kids' birthday 3 months apart, so I don't have to plan parties back to back!
